In the spring of 2025, I found a lump that just didn’t feel right and scheduled a mammogram. After a few roadblocks at my local hospital, I contacted Mayo Clinic, and they were able to get me in the very next week. Following a mammogram and ultrasound, I had a biopsy that confirmed ductal breast cancer—both invasive and noninvasive.
I underwent a lumpectomy and began chemotherapy, but I experienced several reactions to the chemo and will need to take a different treatment route with new medications, and I’m now sporting a new haircut.
I was preparing to begin radiation very soon when another lump was discovered. Another mammogram and ultrasound were scheduled, and the radiologist determined it was suspicious, so another biopsy will be done.
Back to the starting line.
I am incredibly thankful and grateful for this bedroom makeover—it will give me a peaceful, relaxing place to recoup, rest, and recover during this crazy journey—and for the overwhelming love and support from my family and friends and my coworkers at Metalcraft.
