Meet Jewell Waege. This mother of four is courageously fighting Breast Cancer. Jewell has been selected as the next recipient of a My Happy Place room makeover, and we will be doing our very first kitchen project. You see, Jewell is a very talented cookie decorator, and she deserves a functional and beautiful space to do her craft. Jewell started baking and decorating cookies while grieving the loss of her beloved sister. Soon after, she started a custom cookie business named, “My Sister’s Cookies”. Baking has been a therapeutic distraction from the loss of her sister and the stress of her own cancer treatment.
My Happy Place has graciously agreed to take on this unique project. We aim to freshen up her kitchen and create a functional space with improved storage and organization for her mixers and baking supplies. We can’t wait to get started this fall!
Here’s Jewell’s story:
“In March 2025, I was diagnosed with invasive ductal carcinoma. It was a moment that changed my life in an instant. I have undergone 8 chemotherapy treatments and will soon have a double mastectomy and reconstruction surgery, scheduled mid-September.
I’m a proud mother of four incredible children Dallas (22), Adrielle (7), A.C. (5), and Lucille (3). Throughout this journey, they’ve been my greatest source of strength and joy. My fiancé Austin and I had planned to get married this summer, but my cancer diagnosis threw a curveball, so we were forced to postpone to focus on my health.
Aside from my family, baking and decorating cookies has become more than just a hobby for me—it’s my therapy, my creative outlet, and a way to bring a little sweetness and beauty into the world during a challenging time.” – Jewell
