Dean was diagnosed with stage 4 esophageal cancer in March of this year. Dean was told by the doctor that he should quit work because the cancer was fast growing. He chose to fight his diagnosis with chemotherapy instead of giving up! So far, the chemotherapy has made a difference and has shown some shrinkage of the cancer.
Dean has been employed in the Maintenance department for Comprehensive Systems for more than 20 years, spending 19 years as a custodian at the school, all while raising his boys teaching them construction!

Dean is the type of person who always puts others first. He has worked for little to nothing to help people in his community throughout his entire life. He is a jack of all trades!
Most importantly, Dean is a husband of 42 years and a father of three sons. He has ten grandkids, and one great-grandkid, with one more on the way!
Dean was nominated for a My Happy Place makeover by his sister, Sandra. My Happy Place prides themselves in doing makeovers where it’s most meaningful and beneficial to the nominee. For Dean, that place would be his garage! My Happy Place volunteer designer, Jessica Hackbart, hopes to create a relaxing space for Dean, where he and his wife can kick back, watch some good TV, and enjoy food and drinks.
